Call-by-Call setup using MSN in Germany

This is how you can manually install the MSN Easysurfer to your PC. Check the MSN website at www.msn.de/easysurfer for call rates (as of Aug 2002 it was 1.5 Eurocents per minute).

Your access is made without signing up, without a contract, without extra dial charges, without registration, but with "to the second" exact billing on your telephone providers bill, and availability advertised as 24 hrs 7 days a week.

To get the EasySurfer page roughly translated from German into English, go to my web page (http://faculty.ed.umuc.edu/~bennette) and select "translations" from the Directory and Enter the URL that you would like translated.

  1. Select your Dial-up Networking (DUN) icon from the "My Computer" icon on your MS-Windows desktop. (Show Me)
  2. Open the DUN and select the option to "Make a new connection."
  3. Give the new connection a name by replacing the default string of "My Connection." Use MSN EasySurfer, for example.
  4. Make sure that your MODEM is identified, else use the "Configure" option to select the appropriate options. (Show Me)
  5. Progress to the next screen by using the NEXT button and fill in the country-wide Telephone number with 0192658. Leave the Area Code blank since this is a country-wide access number for Germany. Make sure that you select Country Code: Germany. (Show Me)
  6. Click on "Finish" to save the DUN in your folder (you can then drag it to your desktop later).
  7. To make the connection: User name: MSN Password: MSN
