Database Search by Author (Part B)
Day 2

Here are two additional databases that are more academically focused than the three general databases I gave on the previous page.

JSTOR
Project Muse

JSTOR is one of the best databases for finding solid, academic articles. You need to open JSTOR and put an author's name in the Search engine. Be sure to bring up the "author" option in the tab on the right of the search feature. Also, you need to scroll down and check "History." You can then click the "Begin Search" button.

I just entered historian Ira Berlin's name and got four hits. Of course, I'm only using Berlin's name as an example. You might experiment another author. Paul S. Boyer has written a book on the Salem witchcraft trials with co-author Stephen Nissenbaum, and Boyer can serve in our exercise.

I got three hits with Boyer, but none of titles deal with the witchcraft trials.

Project Muse is another database that concentrates on academic articles. Enter the author's name into the search engine and be sure to change the option button on the right to "article author." You are now set for the search. (Return to Author Pt. A)
