Hunting Through Journals
Day 5

The virtual library allows students to perform a style of research that has been traditionally followed by those working in old mortar and brick libraries: students can browse through academic journals for scholarly articles. The Internet has created a breakthrough that makes the job easier. Instead of driving to the library and then plowing through rows of bound journals on dusty library shelves, students can now sit at home and do the work. Both arrangements take time, but the Internet search is much more convenient.

Incidentally, I did say this takes some time to do. For those of you who pay European phone companies for Internet time, I would suggest you use the UMUC computer lab at your local Ed. Center. Some of you might have access to other public computers (perhaps at work) that won't result in your financial ruin. If you pay a flat rate for your home computer, you will also be set.
