Dr.
Bill Stewart has been awarded the academic rank of Collegiate Professor and
teaches management topics in graduate programs for UMUC - Maryland in Europe. He completed the Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership at the
University of Oklahoma, writing a dissertation on perceptions of leadership
and management in the Armed Forces of the United States. He received the
M.B.A. from the University of South Dakota and the B.A. in International
Relations and German from Brigham Young University. He joined the University
of Maryland University College-Europe faculty in 1990 after retiring from the U.S. Air Force with service
in ICBM operations, as a pilot, and in international politico-military
affairs in Europe.
Bill firmly believes
that the finest airplane in the inventory of the United States Air Force
was and is the Boeing B-52 Stratofortress. It is possible that he is prejudiced,
for the BUFF (Big Ugly Fat Fellow) has carried him to far places and returned
him home many times--in safety, if not in comfort.
When not involved
in academic pursuits, Bill enjoys a bit of jogging, bicycling, or cross
country skiing and traveling about central Europe. Given more
time and resources, a scuba diving adventure with lots of clear warm water
and friendly, little fish is the perfect get-away-from- it-all.
Recent years have seen winter dive vacations
on the reefs of various islands in the Caribbean. Here is a photo of Bill checking out the anchor--all that is left--of
an 18th century wreck just outside the harbor of Oranjestad on the tiny island of St.
Eustatius ('Statia').
