I am originally from Wisconsin, where I taught German, French and English as a Second Language in a public school system. I moved to Eltville, Germany, in 1986.  Shortly thereafter I  married Stefan Schmitt and also began teaching for UMUC.

My interests include the geography and culture of the Rheingau region, where I presently live, viniculture, and biking.
