Purpose. Within the disciplines of management information systems and business administration it is imperative that the fundamental concepts, terminology, and technologies associated with computer hardware and software be understood and applied by the graduate student. "Computer Concepts" also presents and explains the relevancy of computers in our society and the importance of information processing skills for day-to-day commercial and government organizations..
Course Objectives. This course enables students to understand:
1. Computer architecture
2. Major concept areas of operating systems
3. The interrelationships between operating systems and computer hardware architecture
4. Machine, assembly, and high-level languages
5. The concepts of database management systems, decision support systems, and data communications
