I expect everyone, including myself, to check every 72 hours (or more frequently) for new material and messages on WebTycho and via email; if you have course related messages or email, respond within 24 hours. You may not have the information to answer all the questions within that time, but acknowledge receipt and tell the sender when you will have the information or be able to discuss the subject. Naturally, you must make time for this course every week as I have said elsewhere. Participation is small groups is required and will be monitored by me.
From time to time you may have to miss a few days of the course for legitimate reasons. If you must be off-line for more than 72 hours, notify me in advance and remind me at the time. Forecast a recontact time and keep me informed. You must make up the work, normally with two weeks, for any missed assignments even for excused absences.
Please forecast any periods when you know you must be absent (i.e., when you will not be available on-line to participate in a course) and work ahead as much as possible.
Remember that other students in this course are depending on your contributions to help them learn the material (just as you learn from them). If you find that you can not participate continuously for 18 days or for a total period of 28 days during a DE course (excluding term break), I advise you strongly to consider withdrawing from that course, for the alternative, with rare exceptions, will be an F(n) grade.
