Weekly Assignments

Turn-in of individual assignments listed below will normally be allocated to specific class members and posted in the WebTycho Assignment area, the Group Web Site, or sent out by email. You will respond NLT 2400 GMT on the last day of the period for which they are assigned (normally a Monday evening). If you have trouble with WebTycho or the Group site, email the assignment to me.

Take care to identify your email messages by Week, Chapter and Individual Assignment. For example, Subject: CAPP385 Wk3, Mod 4, Indiv. Ques.

Each student is reponsible for all individual assignments whether turned-in for a grade or not.


Turn-in of small group assignments will be allocated to specific groups of students as we go along. Different groups can expect to be working on different aspects of the weekly assignments. Items of interest and concern are to be discussed among those group members during the assigned weeks and posted to the WebTycho Assignment area, the Group Web Site, or sent out by email NLT 2400 GMT on the last day of the period for which they are assigned. I will comment on the assignment and make it available to the class as a whole for our discussion during the following week. During Week 1, our discussion will focus on course mission, objectives and evaluation criteria.

Take care to identify your small group email messages by Week, Chapter and Group number. For example, Subject: CAPP385 Wk3, Ch 3, Grp 2

Each group and student is reponsible for understanding all small group assignments whether turned-in for a grade by their particular group or not.


Week 1 (1 - 7 Feb. 2000)

Familiarize Nature and content of Texts, CD-ROM, and Authors'/Publisher Web Site; (N) Ch 19, 27 & 28.

  • Post a bio sketch to share with other;
  • Learn to send and receive email attachments.
  • Learn how to compress and decompress files and create archives of multiple files and folders.
  • Download (or ensure you have access to) required software for Telnet, FTP, image editing, text editing, web authoring, web browsing, emailing, newsreading, viewing animation and video, hearing audio.
  • Find local printed sources such as magazines, books, and newspapers that will help you learn more about the Internet.

  • Become proficient in the use of at least two modern web browsers.

(1): Assignments to be turned-in will be notified via WebTycho. Typically not everyone will be required to turn in all assignments each week. Nor will each group be discussing every topic and reporting back to the whole class thereon.
