This is your old prof in 1956.  I played Left Guard and Middle Linebacker on my Bladensburg High School football team.  

Notice that the helmets had no face masks and, although you can't see it, linemen wore high top shoes.  

We thought we were tough!  Some might say dumb.  Almost everyone sported a broken nose.  

Notice that numbers weren't assigned by position.  We ran a split T with two halfbacks and a fullback 

in the backfield.  We won the Bi-County Championship in my senior year (Prince George's and 

Montgomery Counties, Md.).
